Routine maintenance is the foundation for ensuring stable and efficient operation of blow molding machines. Operators should observe the machine’s operating status, preform feeding, and bottle removal actions during production to detect abnormalities promptly. Upon identifying any issues, the machine should be stopped immediately and the problem addressed to prevent unnecessary downtime or product defects.
Most daily maintenance tasks can be performed while the machine is running and involve checking adjustable parameters such as clamping time, delayed blow time, pre-blow time, and final blow time. The scope of maintenance should be adjusted according to the machine’s performance and the operating environment.
When preform stock is sufficient or during scheduled production breaks, a thorough inspection should be carried out to further enhance machine performance. Operators must also ensure that the compressor lubrication oil level is maintained at an adequate level.
Maintaining cleanliness is critical for smooth operation. When wiping off excess grease—particularly from the clamping mechanism linkage—ensure that the machine is completely stopped before proceeding.
Inspect all bolts and nuts for tightness.
Verify that all proximity switch mounting nuts are secure.
Check that the conveyor belt tension on the loading unit is appropriate.
Inspect bottle quality.
Ensure the cooling water system is free from blockages.
Listen for unusual noises and check for air leaks in the pneumatic system.
Confirm that all solenoid valve coil retaining nuts are tight.
Inspect air tubing for kinks or bends.
Drain the air storage tank and associated equipment (in high humidity environments, drain every 4 hours).
Verify that the operating circuit and high-pressure blowing air pressure are within specified values.
Check that the stretch rod retaining bolts and fiber screws are secure.
Inspect the mold bottom drive stroke nut for tightness.
Ensure oil levels in the lubricator and motor gearbox are sufficient.
Confirm that the exhaust fan is functioning properly.
Check the compressor lubrication oil level daily.
